Update on HB 846 & 1877 - Contact Lens Rx Act Revisions

As part of an agreement between the bill sponsors and the Texas Optometric Association, the bills were pulled down. Instead, the Texas Optometric Association will petition the Board of Optometry to close the loopholes for optometrists by rule.

Update on HB 1862 - Prompt Pay

The prompt pay bill was vetoed on 6/17/2001 by Gov. Perry. In his veto message [pdf format] Perry expressed concern about increasing lawsuits if this bill requiring insurance companies to pay their bills had become law.
